A: If the dog park goes forward we plan to install a security gate to limit access to current community members. Since electricity might be cost prohibitive in the various basins - a mechanical gate lock would be installed.
A: Other organizations within the community have created brick walls where interested parties have 'donated' funds (e.g. $100 per brick) to have a brick inscribed and placed in the wall. The bricks could be used to honor past furry friends or current pets. Should the Dog park move forward we will consider this idea.
Solar lights mounted on 4 foot high fence (pointed down) is being considered for the perimeter of the dog park area. The lights come on at a low intensity after dark. If motion is detected, the light switches to a higher intensity for a few minutes.
In a discussion with the softball chairperson, the issues of liability and parking were mentioned again. The possibility of softballs traveling over the fence was also discussed. During active softball times, dog owners should avoid the area next to the softball fence.
In general, other than the issues mentioned above, there was not a major objection to the use of this space from the softball perspective. Since the Guadalupe/Farnsworth basin was proposed the last time a dog park was considered a few years ago, we will generate a plan/budget for this area as well so everyone can weigh in on pros and cons for each area.
A: Jim V recently met with a fencing contractor to get exact measurements and a cost estimate for fencing/gates. etc. In general the cost is $28/ft installed. We have received quotes for fencing/gates from two companies: FenceAZ and American Fence, that range from $15k to $18k. We are looking at additional options for fencing. There will be costs for secure entry system/installation, benches, concrete work, electrical, plumbing for a water station, and possible lighting. See the amenities for examples.
